Currently FiOS TV offers 23 national HD Channels plus the available local HD channels and regional sports channels. Most local HD channels include the big networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CW, and PBS. We already knew that FiOS technology has an unmatched ability to provide many many more HD channels. DirecTV has been working on increasing their HD lineup for years and just recently launched their vastly expanded HD lineup which currently offers over 70 HD channels. By the end of 2007 that offering should expand to almost 100 HD channels.
Well Verizon FiOS now may seem a little behind the game and they are with DirecTV’s new offering. However Verizon FiOS wasn’t launched until 2005 and their main focus has been expanding the FiOS availability footprint. Not to be let down, on November 1st, 2007, they announced their plans for 2008:
Twice as many HD channels in the spring and a fivefold increase to 150 HD channels by the end of the year. We’ll also be adding HD video-on-demand programming to our current VOD library of 10,000 titles.
Verizon is also planning a major expansion of sports and multicultural programming on FiOS TV in 2008. This is great news for current and future FiOS subscribers. FiOS continues to be one of the best deals for premium TV programming.
The HD lineup as of November 2007 includes the following channels

1I have had FIOS TV since it was first available in my county. I am more then satisfied with the HD quality and with new channels coming should be much better then my old provider (Comcast).
My only problem with FIOS is that they do not offer a baseball package ie MLB Extra Innings
